Senior Accountant

BlueHornet is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the team in San Diego, CA. The Senior Accountant will support the Accounting Manager for month end close and other tasks as required. This role ensures that monthly close and consolidations is performed accurately, timely and in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. The senior accountant position is responsible for serving as a team leader in the finance department and ensuring the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for implementing policy and procedures to ensure internal controls
  • Participates in system enhancements and upgrade testing to validate expected functionality as designed.
  • Analyzes accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standards defined within the department.
  • Works with the accounting manager on appropriate fiscal strategies for the organization.
  • Reviews records of accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Develops systems for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies.
  • Supports consolidations process with our international entities.
  • Responsible for general ledger, journal entries, and bank reconciliations in support of month end close
  • Creates forms, documents and supports policy write ups for accounting processes.
  • Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries and statements

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • BS/BA from an accredited university and 5+ years of experience
  • Strong analytical, consultative, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication (verbal & written), and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, works on multiple assignments, and manages assignments in a team environment.
  • Leadership skills in managing client relationships and the ability to develop customized solutions to meet client needs. Attention to detail with a focus on quality; deadline and result driven
  • Strong technology skills, particularly with Excel. Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty, with a high level of accuracy
  • Must have strong analytical skills and work ethic.

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
